History of the people from Ashtagrama
Although the Ashtagrama Iyers have spread out in all parts of the world, any documentation about their early history, culture, tradition etc., is not available till recently. It is an immediate task before everybody to share their knowledge with other people of Ashtagrama villages about these matters. This is an urgent requirement for our younger generation who live abroad and who are interested in these facts. Some other communities have done lot of work in this field and published books. No such effort has been attempted in respect of the Ashtagrama community.
A team headed by a very senior and respectable person of this community hailing from Yelagondahally, Sri Y.M.C. Sharma, has undertaken this work. After a lot of study and research they have published booklets under the banner of “REGRET IYER PUBLICATIONS”, with its headquarters in Bangalore, India. The information provided is of historic value and authentic.
The publications so far released have been well received by the people. In these publications, an attempt is also made to give a pen picture of the important personalities of the villages, who have rendered great service to the society. . Further information and data about the activities of the persons of this community who belong to these villages and other persons who have directly or indirectly helped the community in establishing a reputation in the world has to be gathered.
The books so far released and the persons who are actively involved in the Editorial Board are given below: Persons who are interested may volunteer to share the knowledge they have, with the Editorial Board which will enrich the contents of the remaining books.
